    October 08, 2021
Lawrence North High School has hired Astrid Apopa as the head girls’ lacrosse coach.  Apopa played collegiately at Robert Morris University in Chicago, where she graduated in 2014.  She also has a Master of Science degree in Management from the University of Indianapolis.  She is currently a CrossFit coach in Zionsville.

The 2021-22 season will be the second full season for girls’ lacrosse in Lawrence.  A developing varsity sport, the team is comprised of student-athletes from both Lawrence North and Lawrence Central.

“Astrid really impressed us with her outlook on developing the student-athlete,” said Athletic Director Mike Penrose.  “She knows the game as someone who has played at the collegiate level.  She is excited to help get this program going in the right direction.”

Apopa said, “The family atmosphere of Lawrence North sold me on coming here.  I’m excited to get going.”  Her message to the team:  “Be Ready”

There will be a team and parent meeting to welcome Coach Apopa at 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 12th  in LGI room 532.
