Shaun Mahoney Named Head Coach of Boys Soccer Team
    March 23, 2021
Lawrence North High School has hired Shaun Mahoney as the head coach of the boys soccer team.
Coach Mahoney is an experienced educator, coach, and recruiter with over 25 years in high school and collegiate athletics.  He has a history of building programs into championship teams at both the high school and college level.
Since 2017, he has been the associate head soccer coach and an adjunct faculty member in the Kinesiology department for the University of Indianapolis.  The Greyhounds are currently ranked #2 in the country in NCAA Division II.  Prior to his time at U of I, he was the head coach and an adjunct faculty member at Franklin College, where he is the most successful coach in the history of the program.
Before his college career, he coached and taught mathematics and social studies at Franklin Community High School and Seymour High School.  At Franklin, he guided the program to the first winning seasons in school history.  At Seymour, he guided the Owls to two sectional titles, a regional title, and two conference championships.  He was named Hoosier Hills Conference Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002.
In addition to his duties as the new LN soccer coach, Mahoney will be a mathematics and social studies teacher at Lawrence North High School starting in the fall of 2021.
Lawrence North Athletic Director Mike Penrose said, “We are extremely happy to welcome Coach Mahoney to the Wildcat family.  He is an educator who is focused on the overall well-being of the student-athlete.  He has a history of building teams into competitive programs wherever he has coached, and shares our vision of excellence.”
“I felt the prospect of joining the LN staff was an opportunity I couldn't turn down,” said Mahoney. “Over the last few weeks, I've learned that Lawrence North High School has an incredible student body, faculty, and staff. I want to thank Mr. Crousore and Mr. Penrose for entrusting me with the future of the LN soccer program. It's great to be back in high school athletics.”
