Meet The Coach

Head Girls Basketball Coach Chris Giffin

Chris Giffin has been the head coach of the LN girls basketball team since 2012.  At the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season, Coach Giffin has produced an astounding 174-36 record (.829 win percentage), seven 20-win seasons, five MIC titles, four Marion County tournament championships, five sectional championships, four regional championships, two semi-state championships, and the 2020 IHSAA state championship.  Coach Giffin and his staff have already produced eight Indiana All-Stars (Ana Owens, Destiny Washington, Lamina Cooper, Ae'Rianna Harris, Lauren Dickerson, Destiny Perkins, Katie Davidson, Kristen Yong) as well as 14 Division-1 players.  

Prior to coaching the girls team, he spent 10 years in various capacities under Coach Keefer and the boys program here at LN.  Coach Giffin previously spent one season as the head boys freshman coach, winning the prestigious Marion County Championship in 2004.  Following that, he served four years as the head boys JV coach, compiling a 67-11 record with those teams.  He also served as Coach Jack Keefer’s top varsity assistant for two years. 

An Honors graduate of Ben Davis High School where he played basketball, baseball, and tennis, Chris was named a member of the Indiana All-State Doubles Tennis Team in 1995-1996. While in college at Indiana University, Chris severed as a basketball manager for three seasons under legendary Hall-of-Fame coach Bob Knight. Following his graduation with a B.S. in secondary social studies education, Chris became a graduate assistant coach for Coach Bob Knight at Texas Tech University in 2003-2004.  Presently, Chris is in his 16th year of teaching in the Special Education department at Lawrence North High School.
